About halfway through the episode, Detective Danny gets a call from a serial killer who has been abducting and murdering young women. While the killer taunts Danny, we see his latest victim, a blonde named Ashley (Linsday Mushett). Wearing a light blue cotton minidress, she’s tied to a chair with her hands behind the backrest (bonds not shown). Lots of mmpphhing. We get one brief shot of her tape-gagged face before the killer removes the tape so she can plead into the phone. Unfortunately, one side of her face is extremely bloody. Less than a minute before this sequence, Danny’s colleague Maria (Marisa Ramirez) discusses a previous victim who survived: “So she wasn’t tied up or duct taped like the others?”

At the end of the next act, Danny has found the killer’s hideout and discovered his trophy wall in the basement, which includes women’s undergarments and close-up photos of their gagged faces. He also finds Ashley, who is lying on the floor, hands tied behind her back and feet (clad in red wedges) tied with hemp rope, possibly hogtied but not seen clearly, and once again gagged with duct tape. Her mmpphhing becomes frantic as she tries to warn Danny about the killer, who ambushes him from behind and proceeds to beat the crap out of him. After several minutes of brawling he finally makes his escape at 34mins, leaving Danny beaten to a pulp while Ashley struggles and mmpphhs loudly. She is released offscreen.
